  1. What’s your daily admin routine?Messages | VarageSale
Before I get out of bed, I normally check my phone to make sure everything is going well on VarageSale. I like to respond to any messages from members and check to see if I’ve made any sales. Then I get off my phone. VarageSale can consume your life if you let it and I have to manage my time. I have a team of admin that will bring any real issues to my attention but for the most part my management style is to let adults work out their issues so it frees me up to grow the community, build relationships with other businesses in our area, and be able to sell my own items. I typically check in about 3 times a day.
  2. If you had an admin superpower, what would it be?
My admin superpower is I take nothing personally. That’s a decision I made a long time ago. Communicating solely through written text can be hard sometimes, it can be very easy to read an emotion that isn’t there and a situation can escalate quickly. There’s no way to make everyone happy and you might upset people along the way but as long as you make the best decision for the group as a whole then you’ve done your job as an admin. I think to maintain your sanity you’ve got to listen, laugh a lot, and process the information without emotion.
  3. What’s your favourite VarageSale feature and why?
My favorite feature is the My Transactions tab–I’ve been around for a long time and seen many updates in the past several years and consolidating all the items that you’re buying or selling has likely saved me the most time.
  4. What’s the best item you’ve found on VarageSale?
The best item I’ve found on VarageSale? Ummm, the majority of my home has been bought on VarageSale but my favorite time of year to shop is Christmas. There are so many good deals and I like shopping while I’m at home and wearing yoga pants rather than fighting crowds at the mall. The main difference for me is the money I spend on VarageSale stays local and helps support another family. That is important to me.Food | VarageSale
  5. What is the most interesting thing you’ve seen for sale?
It always makes me laugh when I see food for sale. When I started my community almost 5 years ago I didn’t think anyone was going to clean out their pantry and sell it, but it happens and the items sell. More power to you!
  6. What is your favourite part about being involved with your VarageSale community?
I love my VarageSale community because of the difference it makes in our local economy. This is a viable market where people are able to make money to pay for dance lessons, private education, college, Disney vacations, groceries, or a date night. It’s a remarkable way to make a difference in the community. If we didn’t have VarageSale, there would be a lot of mompreneurs out trying to make ends meet by working extra jobs. VarageSale allows parents to make extra money for the household while still being at home.
  7. What’s your favourite food?Tacos and Steak | VarageSale
My favorite food? I’m a foodie–I enjoy a good steak or love tacos–honestly anything that I don’t have to cook is my favorite!
