- What’s your daily admin routine?
Wake up, get son settled with breakfast. Brew coffee. Open VarageSale. Insert PM replies, member approvals, regular buying and selling between, “Come see, Momma! Momma, let’s play. Momma, I’m hungry. More drink, Momma. I love you, Momma! Momma, play outside! Momma? Momma?! MOMMA!” Wake up on sofa with a wet cheek from my own drool and phone in hand. App open when screen blinks awake: VarageSale. Slink to bed. Repeat tomorrow.
- If you had an admin superpower, what would it be?
I wish I had the ability to teleport items, like in Star Trek. “Beam me up, Hopey!” Sometimes I wish I could just push a button and items and cash would just teleport to the appropriate parties. Boom! No-show problems solved.
- What’s your favourite VarageSale feature and why?
I absolutely adore My Transactions!!! I love having a list of my buying/selling all in one place. I have so much fun marking things as paid or sold. I have the memory of a flea, so this feature has saved my tush more than once.
- What’s the best item you’ve found on VarageSale?
My favorite purchase was a 1956 Elvis poster from when he played at Ponchartrain Beach (a local, beloved amusement park that has long since closed). It was a wedding gift for a friend who adores all things Elvis. Best gift ever.
- What is the most interesting thing you’ve seen for sale?
I see so many COOL items posted every week, it’s hard to pick. One of my favorite things to do is peek at our Handmade category. We have a member who regularly posts pieces of art made out of recycled Mardi Gras beads. I have a personal goal to own one sometime (hopefully) soon.
- What is your favourite part about being involved with your VarageSale community?
Simply put? Seeing people help each other. Our community has a weekly swap meet. About 600 people meet every Sunday to exchange items. Besides the efficiency, I always find the mixture of people to be beautiful. So many are brought together and interact with pleasure that would probably otherwise never cross paths. Husbands come to help their wives. Kids are eager to help their parents at the car. Neighbors at the car next to you gladly lend helping hands when needed. Friends are made that become like family. Support systems are fostered and created for members who otherwise don’t leave their homes. It doesn’t matter what the demographics are, VarageSale has brought these beautiful souls together. This facet of VarageSale never ceases to amaze me.
- What’s your favourite food?
VERY hard question for someone from New Orleans. We don’t eat to live, we live to eat. I would have to say my Mom’s shrimp creole. My mouth is watering as I type.
